Why Choose Chiropractic Care
Pain is a poor indicator of health
Many people are under the assumption that if they don’t feel any pain there is nothing wrong with them – i.e., that they are healthy. Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of health. In fact, pain and other symptoms frequently only appear after a disease or other condition has become advanced.
For example, consider a cavity in your tooth. Does it hurt when it first develops or only after it has become serious? How about heart disease? Regardless of whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear. When you begin chiropractic care, pain is also the first symptom to disappear, even though much of the underlying condition remains.
There is a perception that reduction of pain is the primary goal. Some people cut off care prematurely once the pain is reduced. This does not allow the chiropractor to fully address the underlying problem and the chances of the condition recurring are much greater.
Healthy for Life!
Many patients recognize that regular chiropractic care is an essential part of their health and wellness from infancy to adulthood. Just like continuing an exercise program and eating well in order to sustain the benefits of exercise and proper diet, ongoing chiropractic care is necessary to ensure the health of your spine and nerve system.
Think of your teeth. Do you floss your teeth on a regular basis? A wise dentist told me, “You only need to floss the teeth you want to keep.” Adjustments are like flossing your vertebrae to ensure good alignment, balance and movement.
